Yosemite log day 3 from Washburn lake It is 9:30 am and I am taking a long break at Washburn lake. Granite masses rise from each side of the lake and snow covered Isberg Peak can be seen up the valley. The sun is over the peak and rising quickly. The water is still. This morning I found that peanut butter spilled out of the ziplock bag. I scraped the spill onto a flatbread and ate it for breakfeast rather than my usual oatmeal. ...

Yosemite log day 2 Made it to Merced lake. This is good because there are bear lockers and all of my food won't fit in cannister. Sitting by the lake watching the last light of day and drinking wine. They didn't seem too friendly, but since they were the only people I had seen all day, I stopped to talk and get information. Where are you headed? ...

I will be reporting from Yosemite beginning October 9th....

The floor of the tunnel is absolutely cloaked in darkness; the dimest light tells me where the walls lie. My mind easily begins to wonder whether a deep shaft might have opened in the floor of this forgotten 1940's era tunnel. I would easily make my last step into oblivion. ...
